Recently Russia has informed that it is ready to take Iran's uranium for enrichment process. Many people viewed it as a feasible solution to a very complicated crisis. Few persons who are interested in international politics do not know that Iran is apparently determined to acquire nuclear weapons. However, Iran denies this assertion and vouches that it is resolved to acquire nuclear energy for peaceful purposes only. According to the news from various capitals of the nations that conduct negotiations on Iran issue, this was a realistic and feasible proposal. Yet even if this proposal was accepted unconditionally by Iran it would not resolve the issue and would hardly restore the confidence and trust of Western Governments.

One should consider this problem in order to understand why there is still the lack of confidence in various Western countries. We must not forget that Iran had been developing its nuclear potential surreptitiously before it revealed it in 2002. Even if the bulk of its nuclear programs are transferred to Russia, it will still possess large stockpiles of nuclear materials as well as enough scientific capacities to develop and enhance its nuclear potential. Apart from this, various threatening statements of numerous Iranian officials and especially its president do not make the process of negotiations easier. Consequently, if Iran acquires nuclear weapons it might represent one of the greatest threats to peace and security in the Middle East. Iran already possesses modernly equipped and sophisticated army as well as comparatively developed and diversified economy. .Some of the hardliners might think that nuclear arsenal is the only thing it lacks. As Iran has been secretive in the past, it is not an open country at present and there are enough reasonable grounds to believe that it will maintain its secrecy in the future, there is no doubt in my opinion that it will continue its nuclear research, even if Russian proposals are accepted unconditionally. Even when the seals of nuclear plants were broken, Iranian officials explained this step by necessities of peaceful research.

So, what should be done to resolve this long-delayed problem?! One has got to distinguish between short-term and long term prospects. One could hardly imagine that any definite proposal would be acceptable for all participants of negotiations at the present moment of mistrust between all participants of negotiations. In the long -term period some compromises from Western countries which could induce Iran to abandon its nuclear ambitions are necessary. It will be difficult if not impossible to resolve this issue otherwise, one should remember that Iran would hardly acquiesce to any supervision of its nuclear program (if we are committed to resolve this crisis, we must think how we can induce Iran to abandon its nuclear program.
