1) Getting Your CV or Resume Right

The big thing in your favor is the life and work experiences you have already had and that cannot be replicated by younger people. So, without making too much of it, emphasize what you have done in your work (and increasingly, outside the workplace too).

Carefully indicate the experiences you have had; the challenges you've faced successfully and the qualities you have, both that you feel for yourself, as well as that substantiated by evidence from co-workers, clients and customers as well as those you worked for.

You might also need to know that your length of service, especially with a limited number of employers over your career, is a good sign that you will be reliable as well as that you were held in high regard by your previous employers.

2) Prepare Yourself Well

When you are an older jobseeker, you need to work at it to ensure that you become irresistably attractive to prospective employers. To get this right, you need to be proactive.

By seeking out opportunities where you can develop your skills in the direction of roles you have been attracted to, you will look like you are very interested in the job.

This can take the form of additional training courses as well as taking on temporary experiences, maybe even unpaid, that will get your ready to hit the ground running when you get the job you're looking for.

3) Play Your Cards Right

It can be a huge challenge to seek out the right opportunities, however much time you can put in. So here's a secret. More people, especially older jobseekers, get jobs through people they already know than from applying cold.

If you are older, there are agencies that are working just for you. You will have likely as not, somewhere in your town that can help you in your quest. The world is getting savvier now of the possibilities that older workers offer, so it's much more available in your very own main street now than it ever was.

There are places where jobs for people like you are being advertized. Get 'Googling' for keywords like 'older workers' & 'older jobs' etc., in your location. It's quite possible that there is a role for you lurking somewhere, so doing all you can to find it, is down to you, as it won't always be possible for that perfect employer to find the older applicant they are looking for.

The jobs that are most likely to be available for older jobseeker?

- customer service roles, where experience of one-to-one interaction often comes easier after a lifetime in that sort of role.

- interim roles, where an organization is looking for short- to medium-term cover, which might be of a timescale to suit older applicants as well.

- professional roles, where long experience is of great value in supporting and mentoring newer, younger staff and where sometimes there might be a desire for the older applicant to lose a few hours in the week

This is just a small selection of possibilities. It is not exhaustive. Remember this is a win-win situation where employers in all sorts of businesses will benefit from having older jobseekers in their employee mix. It's out there for you, so make the effort and you will be rewarded.

The second step MLM Ventures has taken was issuing business cards for all employees. Whether part time, full time, seasonal, even associates had all received a set of business cards, personalized with their name and contact information. Taking advantage of the prime space at the back of the card, important facts about the company and the product were included.

That was the company’s best move in years. Although the objective was to persuade all employees that they were part of the team, and to make them more involved with the company and brand, linking their name with the company’s logo on a business card setting, the long term effects were greater. On the lower level of the organization, a lot of the employees were receiving their very first business card. Taking pride not only they immediately felt important and got closer to the brand, but they also promoted the company and its products by word of mouth.

The company had succeeded. From the cleaning staff to track drivers to sales executives, they were all part of the same team and they were all working towards the same goal. For that reason they were treated the same way and they were all expected to be responsible for their actions and take pride in the company’s success.

The business card as a marketing tool had provided the company with priceless rewards. The employee turnover and absenteeism decreased and they noticed an increase in referrals. Above all, within 6 months, it helped employees believe in the product, because they realized how much they were associated with it.

I guarantee you this is going to be one of the first things anyone who is good on the internet is going to tell you when you take virtually any marketing course.

So make an approach to a business and change it as you learn more about it. Don' quit. This is the only reason you will possibly fail in this new computer day and age.

-Cast: Cast jewelry makes up a majority of the jewelry you will see for sale in stores and online. Casting is a widely used jewelry manufacturing process in which metal is poured or forced into a mold, called a die, making it assume the shape of the cavities of the mold. The metal then cools and hardens in the desired shape, at which point it is called casting.

-Die Struck: Denser and thus more resilient than cast jewelry, die struck jewelry is formed by compressing precious metals into shape by striking or stamping them using harder metal dies. Requiring specialized equipment and more production time, die struck jewelry is more costly than cast jewelry.

-Handmade: Just as it sounds, jewelry marked “handmade” has been constructed entirely by hand without the aid of mechanical devices. All major components of handmade jewelry have been individually crafted by hand, and no machine manufactured parts may be incorporated into jewelry designated as “handmade.” Handmade jewelry can be relatively costly but is highly sought after due to its uniqueness.

-Gold electroplate: Jewelry carrying this description is composed of a non gold base metal coated with a layer of at least ten carat gold. In order to be classified as gold electroplate, the layer of gold must be applied to the base metal through an electrolytic process and measure at least 0.175 microns (about seven millionths of an inch) in thickness.

-Gold filled: Gold filled jewelry is also comprised of a base metal coated with at least ten carat gold, though the gold coating of gold filled jewelry is bonded to the base metal mechanically through the application of heat and pressure. Gold must comprise at least 5% (or 1/20th) of the weight of a piece in order to be classified as gold filled. You may also see gold filled jewelry referred to as “gold overlay” or “rolled gold plate.”

How to Get Your Promotional Articles Accepted by Publishers

If you want to get more traffic and sales from your promotional articles, and you want to get your articles listed on more sites, then you need to target your publisher market correctly.

As the publisher of an article directory, I see this all the time: writers and other marketers who are so desperate to get their promotional seen they really don't think about how they are marketing, where they are marketing, or who they are marketing to.

As an article writer myself, who has gone from almost no listings at all in the last year in Google, to over 46,000, I'd like to give you a little insight into to how you can get your articles read and seen so that get you the traffic and sales you are looking for.

1. Target your market This should be obvious. If you're writing articles about real estate, find sites that accept articles on real estate. Find directories that accept articles on real estate. Then your article is more likely to get accepted.

Some article writers assume, wrongly, because a certain type of article is related to a subject, that article will be published on a certain type of site.

Not so. It's a good idea to explore the content of a site before submitting, unless it's a general article directory. This will tell you whether this article is a good fit or not.

2. Don't submit an ad or a press release I get this one a lot. My question to people like this is, "What makes you think I'll publish your ad?"

I pay for my web hosting, domains, and all the other expenses incurred in running an online business. Why should I help you? Why do I have to waste my time deleting your junk from my site?

I'm a writer and then a marketer, but in the case of site content, I'm a marketer first. I want top notch content on my site. Good articles. Articles that will help my readers. The best way to help my readers is to publish articles that are related to my topic.

Now, if the site does publish ads and press releases, by all means, submit. However, make sure that you have properly targeted your market. Website publishers are busy people, and it only takes a second to hit that delete key.

3. Make your article interesting One of the first things I learned in journalism school is to translate technical material into plain language so that readers can understand it.

The same applies with articles. If you use a term that is unfamiliar, explain it in the body of your article. Don't send your readers on a wild goose chase trying to figure out what you mean.

Make your article easy to understand.

Use short words, short paragraphs, and short sentences. If you've ever read a newspaper, or "Time" magazine, or even a romance novel, you'll find out that these are written on about a seventh grade level.

This is so that readers can get through the material quickly. It's easy to understand.

4. Don't use HTML to format your article unless the publisher specifically says you can. One of Article Directory does all of the HTML formatting for the writer. Therefore, when the writer uses HTML in the formatting, those characters show up. I either have to remove the HTML or delete the article. The article almost always gets deleted unless I really want the article on my site. Then the writer gets a personal email.

5. Check your work Now I will be the first to admit that I am guilty of this one.

I write at the speed of light and type at the speed of sound. This means that I'm thinking faster than I can get the words down on paper. This can quickly make a mess of my articles.

The easiest way around this one is to read your article out loud. This forces you to slow down. You'll catch a lot of your grammar and punctuation mistakes, and smooth the flow of your writing.

Give your links one last check to make sure they work, and you're ready to go.

If you want to get more mileage from your articles, the best way to do this is to target your market, write a good article, and give your reader information that is helpful, interesting, and easy to understand.

You'll maximize your listings in the search engines and multiply your traffic and sales exponentially.

You can't afford to have your resume trashed just because you didn't understand the basic rules for a successful resume and suffer "resume rejection!"

Your resume is often the very first contact a decision-maker has with you. So, it better be a blockbuster! You better make a big impression. And fast! Otherwise your prized resume is headed for the waste basket.

Resume rejection starts with a misunderstanding about what a resume can do for you. First of all, a resume doesn't get you a job. Only decisions by hiring managers can get you a job. Therefore, the best a resume can do for you is getting a hiring manager's attention. And that's how it has to be written.

If you think you're going to get ahead by loading up your resume with every conceivable detail about your work history, you just lost. Resumes are first scanned in less that 50 seconds. If something pops off the page to grab the reader's attention, then your resume may survive the first test. It gets put on the "keeper" stack for later review and more careful reading.

The very first rule of a successful resume is that it must be readily scanable in 50 seconds or less. Do NOT write more than two pages. And make them very readable with wide margins and good spacing.

The second rule is that your resume must have a headline. It's a lot like reading a newspaper. You're attracted to an article if there's a headline that grabs your attention. The same is true of a resume. Your headline is an attention-grabbing statement that states very directly what you have to offer the reader.

The third rule is to avoid an "objective statement." This self-serving announcement has little or no meaning to a decision-maker. He/she could care less about what you're looking to get out of this job. The reader is interested in learning only two things: what can you do for my bottom line? . . . And what can you do to make my job easier?

Instead of an objective statement you want to make a "summary statement" in which you lay out in assertive language what you bring to the table that can make a difference.

There are many more pointers that can help you improve your resume and give it a stronger impact. But if you observe these three basic rules you'll survive the first big test and avoid resume rejection.
